Rules & Regulations

  1. Participants must be studying in Malaysia, and fit into one of these three age-groups as follows:
    • 13-15 years
    • 16-17 years
    • 18-24 years
  2. On each day at 9.00 a.m., a one-word prompt will be released on the Wildlife Conservation Swinburne Sarawak English Microfiction Challenge website.
  3. Young writers will have 24 hours to write and submit a 500-word story in English based on the one-word prompt.
  4. Each day’s prompt will have one winner and two honourable mentions in each category whose stories will be published on the Wildlife Conservation Swinburne Sarawak English Microfiction Challenge website.
  5. At the end of the five days, the judges will decide on overall first, second and third place winners for each category.
  6. The overall first, second and third place winners for each category will be awarded cash prizes and certificates as follows: RM800 for the Overall First-place Winner, RM500 for the second-place winner and RM300 for the third-place winner.
